ICD-11: icd.who.int
|
ICD-11 provides best-practice guidance drawn from international standards and concepts for patient medical records. The guidelienes provides users strategic planning and operational best-practices for the improvement and maintenance of an ICD system. The efforts described in this guide will help to strengthen the quality and completeness of diagnostic factors. To allow for accurate analysis, interpretation and use, data collected on international medical records should be coded according to the standard of the ICD. For each task the reader can find references to published key resources for further learning and application.
ICHI provides a common tool for reporting and analyzing health interventions for statistical purposes. Interventions for treatment, prevention and diagnostics: medical, nursing, rehabilitation, laboratory, imaging, ultrasound, public health. |
BMC Medical Informatics and Decision Making
• ICD-11 extension codes support detailed clinical abstraction and comprehensive classification • The three-part model for coding causes and mechanisms of healthcare-related adverse events • Overview of ICD-11 architecture and structure • Postcoordination of codes in ICD-11 • Decision algorithm for when to use the ICD-11 3-part model for healthcare harms • Incorporation of complementary and traditional medicine in ICD-11 • Coding mechanisms for diagnosis timing in the ICD11 |
What's New
Ovarian Carcinoma: Integrated Morphologic and Molecular Analysis Following the 2020 World Health Organization Classification of Female Genital Tumors OrphaNet: In collaboration with several partners, including OrphaNet, ICD11 has incorporated all rare diseases to allow registries and researchers access to detailed epidemiological data on conditions of interest. |
Associated Illness

The impact on Healthcare IT systems and Software
Modification to health information software systems is required to accommodate the new composition of codes and the mechanisms within the ICD11. Necessary changes include the adaptation to the new code structure of ICD11, use of the coding API and features for clustering in User interface, Workflow, Database, System Interfaces and reports including clinical, financial, analytical reporting systems of payer.
